The PID loops enable the CS unit to maintain control under varying feed water, plant steam and pure steam conditions without any manual interface. For example, when the feed water pressure fluctuates, the PID loop will open the feed valve in response to the feed water level going down. It will completely close the steam valve, if necessary, when the pure steam usage goes down to zero. Other units that utilize manual valves and flow controllers will require operator interface every time the pressure changes to one of the utilities.
