 Industrial Positive Displacement Compressor

Positive displacement compressors generally have a higher efficiency than centrifugal designs. In many processes, this fact alone is sufficient to warrant their use despite some other disadvantages. The vapor compression process, however, is unique (see Vapor Compression/Compressor Basics) in that the efficiency of the compressor has little effect on the overall energy consumption of the still. This type of compressor, therefore, is not offered on MECO stills.
